Museums of Thessaloniki-Greek team



  Thessaloniki has over ten major and minor museums. The first 3 are the most important and well known ones, and they attract most of the visitors of the city.
 1.  1. The Archeological Museum

  It is located near the centre of the city and was founded in 1962.

  It includes many impressive works of ancient art, ancient of the entire Macedonia region are exhibited there, including the so called Treasure of Bergina, as well as weapons, jewellery, beautiful statues and even parts of temples from both the ancient Greek and Roman era. Prehistoric exhibitions are also included there.

  2. The Byzantine Culture Museum
 Built just next to the Archeological Museum, it exhibits findings from the Byzantine era (about 500-1400), as well as historic arts of the Christian culture and religion. After all, this was one of the most progressive periods for Thessaloniki, and many of its churches were built at that time.

   3. The White Tower
 The White Tower is well known as the symbol of the city. 

 However, in the latest years, it has also become a museum, where one can learn about the history of Thessaloniki in the last 200 years, and also the visitors can see rare photos of the city in the past.
