After the Romans had conquered Greece, in the 2nd century BC, Thessaloniki became the capital of one of the four Roman districts of Macedonia. During Roman times, Thessaloniki became a very important city, because it was located on a nodal point of the road connecting Rome and Instabul. Moreover, it was the largest harbour in the whole region.
We present you the most important Roman monuments in our city.
