To
this extraordinary family the city of Pescara dedicated a museum where we went
last month.
Before
becoming a museum in 1975 to the Cascella family, this place was a home, a
laboratory, an artists’ coterie, a place of experimentation and teaching. It is
near the historical centre of the Pescara city, near the house of Gabriele D’Annunzio,
and it fosters not only a precious art collection, but also a fascinating
history.
From
the progenitor Basilio (1860-1950), through his successor –Tommaso, Michele e
Gioacchino, Andrea e Pietro, Marco, Tommaso jr and Jacopo- to the youngest
progeny Matteo Basile (1974) and Davide Sebastian (1981).
From
symbolism in the late 1800s to modern day digital art: there are over 600 pieces
of art created by 5 generations of artists, an extraordinary dynasty, a great
cultural adventure.
Basilio
Cascella on the 1924 made three polychrome
panels for the tomb of the hero Andrea
Bafile in the memorial cave of Majella where we went to take these pictures to
show you!
